Lessons from the GAMA struggle.

I was having a look at Ephemeral Left and came across the link for this documentary about the GAMA strike in 2005. With Joe Higgins, Clare Daly and our ULA comrades entering the Dáil it is worth having a look over. For me it illustrates the role elected representatives can have in struggle while highlighting that real change will never come without struggle by workers. It is worth watching also for Conor Lenihan’s snide racist remark where he tells Joe Higgins that he should ‘stick to the Kebabs.’ Having lost his seat in such a dramatic manner less than a week ago I hope Mr. Lenihan wishes he had taken his own advice. His defeat was made all the better by Mick Murphy of the Socialist Party winning significantly more votes than him.
